The Arcola Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), located on Gum Spring Road, is the closest fire station and is the primary department for Stone Ridge. Service is also provided by the South Riding Fire Department and the Aldie Volunteer Fire Department. The Arcola VFD is located about 2 miles from the Community Center and the furthest point into the community is about another 3 additional miles away for a total of 5 miles. The Arcola VFD has a paid staff during the day and a volunteer staff at night. In order to determine the distance from your home to the closest fire hydrant, the AVFD suggests just pacing it off and count the number of “feet” between your house and the hydrant.
